Shipping “Tattoo” Prototypes Still A Bit Away
Now that we are getting images from and pictures of working Epic/Scarlet prototypes, RED has cleared a major hurdle and we are one step closer to shipping Scarlets. ”Tattoos” will not be shipping tomorrow, however. Jarred just posted:

These RED guys think they own the world b-c they promise and promise … reality is, they keep promoting a price that keeps rising and rising, they insinuate a release date that keeps moving forward and forward, AND they don’t deliver … what is this Ted from RED crap? Grow up and become a real company -you want to be Apple like? Deliver the product and generations later we’ll join the force …
Now that the prototypes are being tested and modules are currently working with the brains I doubt much is going to change before they ship. RED is the first to admit they are horrible at predicting ship dates. I for one enjoy their openness. There are plenty companies that follow the traditional model. The ARRI Alexa is the perfect example. Choices are good.
I am looking forward to seeing the working DSMC models at NAB next week. We will keep this site updated with the latest news as always.
