The RED Epic is an S35mm+ (1.3 crop still equivalent) sensor camera that can shoot up to 120fps at 5k resolution (300fps at 2k). You can shoot up to 120 14mp RAW stills per second. The Epic sensor natively has over 13 stops of dynamic range. HDRx mode allows you to dial in up to 6 more stops of highlight protection giving you a maximum dynamic range of over 18 stops. With REDCODE RAW you can chose how much compression you need. REDCODE 12:1 allows you to shoot 2 hours of 5k on a 256gb SSD drive while REDCODE 3:1 mathematically uncompressed gives you true lossless RAW. Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Sony Vegas allow drag n’ drop editing of 5k RAW files. Apple’s Final Cut requires transcoding to their ProRes codec.

- Image Stabilization is functional on the entire stabilized lens lineup.
- The Titanium mounts are machined out of solid Titanium.
- Current EPIC builds all support Iris control over the mount. An early AF build will be released around the time when the mounts ship. This will include basic touchscreen autofocus.
- Switching is a field safe procedure ( in a clean area ) and literally involves unscrewing 4 bolts and swapping mounts.. Then check back focus ( if needed )
- The Canon lens mount is “SMART” which means it controls camera Iris, Image Stabilization, and Autofocus electronically, via the various control options with EPIC ( touch screen, side handle, REDMOTE )
- A lot of people have problems with Canon lenses sometimes being loose in their mounts on their DSLRs. RED has added a locking mechanism ( as you can see in the photo above ) so you bayonet the lens into the mount as normal, and then rotate the locking to double secure the lens. No more rotation, no more wobble
- All lens data available from the lens will be stored in the R3D metadata. There is on screen displays for iris stop, focal length ( including zooms ) and the current focus distance in inches or mm.

The fixed lens version comes with a professional 8x electronic zoom lens while the interchangeable Scarlet can be equipped with a lens mount of your choosing but will work best with high quality S16mm lenses and the miniRED primes.

Our RED One cameras have now been upgraded to the new Mysterium-X sensor. This new MX sensor has about two more stops of sensitivity than the original Mysterium and is fantastic for lowlight shooting.
