New Color Science: REDcolor2 and REDgamma2

RED has just released a new color science that includes REDcolor2 and REDgamma2 which both make skin tones much nicer. The image below was shot on the original Mysterium sensor and was put through the new REDcine-X 351:

New Still From 8x Fixed Scarlet

Someone snagged a still taken with the 8x fixed zoom Scarlet from Jarred Land’s Facebook page. This is fairly low res but gives us a peak at what is coming.

This is an extremely short clip but it is the first moving footage we have seen from the 8x fixed Scarlet. The video is of auto focus working with a Canon lens. Click to watch.

Mysterium-X IR Test

Dylan Macleod, CSC, has done a great comparison infrared test between the original Mysterium and Mysterium-X sensors. As you can see IR contamination is much less on the Mysterium-X sensor. The jacket is a synthetic black material and was lit with a 2K tungsten light. Both cameras had an ND 1.2 in front of the lens. Original post here…

Scott Webster from Rocket Rentals New Zealand has just posted a bunch of Mysterium-X R3D files for anyone to download and play with in Redcine-X. You can download the latest version of Redcine-X in this thread (free): www.reduser.net/539913

The night scenes were shot at ISO 1600 and ISO 2000 and allow us to see what the lowlight R3Ds will be capable of.

Mysterium-X Compared to Original Mysterium Sensor

Mysterium-X Low Light Moving Footage

Offhollywood has put up some of the first moving footage from the new Mysterium-X sensor. They have RED Ones #6 and #7 and just had them upgraded. This footage was shot at ISO 1600 on 16mm, 25mm & 35mm Master Primes and an 85mm Ultra Prime. Grab the 1k version here.
