I’m so sick to death of these arbitrary limitations. If this camera can do 1-150fps at 9k, then why wouldn’t it be able to do 1-150 at anything in a lower resolution?
I think these are just guestimates until they have an actual production camera to test real life framerates. RED announced in April that the Epic-X can do 300fps at 2k which is quite a bit more than the 250fps originally announced. http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?57541-EPIC-frame-rates…
george you obviously don’t know how cameras work. You think like a simpleton.
This cam even is not exist, what are you giving to rent? There is no model such as Red Epic 617. I checked everywhere even the offical site of RED, this is not exist, the pictures of 617 is a paint made by 3d max vray in 2009.
RED is still working on medium format and large format Epic cameras. Things obviously took a lot longer than they had originally planned so I would expect an update on the 645 and 617 when they announce the details of the Dragon sensor. We’re hoping they do so in a week at NAB 2012!
I see, thanks for info.
I will happily beta test this baby for stills in Africa for my Elephant pano work.

ow go on, I’m sure it will work fine in the field
I’m a 617 shooter, and I’d love to see Red do a digital version that would improve upon the Fuji GX617 or the Linhof.
I want an Epic 617. Where can I buy one?
Me too! Last we heard the Monstro line of sensors was still in development but we probably won’t hear anything until most of the current Epics have been upgraded to the new Dragon sensor. Maybe we’ll hear something this fall!
Where can I see one of these? Who can i talk to within Red?
I’m a panoramic photographer and this product (launched in appx. 2008) is revolutionary for the medium and large format camera industry. I have influence in the panoramic camera industry to drive in the direction of digital and either Monstro or Dragon sensors, at whatever stage in development, would be great.
